Custom Tours

We can design any kind of tour for you whether it be on two legs, two wheels, or even four wheels (the truck)!

Here’s some of the customised tours that we have done:

Romantic couples private bicycle tour: A platter, champagne, table flowers and ‘ei (flower garlands) awaited our couple at lunch time. The then ‘hopeful husband-to-be’ had secretly organised a romantic proposal for his girlfriend. She thought they were simply going to be enjoying a bicycle tour together, until it got to the end of the tour when a romantic marriage proposal on the beach and a special lunch followed. She happily accepted! It was lovely to share this experience with two lovely people.

Birthday pub crawl on the truck: A late afternoon / early evening pub crawl was on the cards for this group of eight, as we toured around the island stopping off at a few bars along the way. The pub crawl lasted four hours, before everyone was safely dropped back home for the birthday barbecue.

Large walking group tour with ‘umukai’: A large walking tour group of 25 with primarily older teenagers / young adults. This tour encompassed a two hour walk mainly along the back road and back road tracks, with a specially prepared umukai - food cooked in a ground oven, the traditional way - to finish.

Outdoor education on bicycles for trainee teachers: A bicycle tour with a group of trainee teachers, finishing with a swim at the beach and lunch. The tour guide focused on outdoor education techniques and ideas as part of what was otherwise, a ‘normal’ bicycle tour along the back road in Puaikura.

If you are interested in a customised tour, then your imagination, and our capacity are the only limits! There is a limit of 8 for truck tours, 10 for bicycle and walking tours (though we can increase numbers for walking tours by arrangement). If you would like some ideas, then here’s a few:

  • Around the island on the truck to visit picturesque spots, a tour of the churches or places of cultural and historical significance, or even a pub crawl / guided tour combo!

  • Round the island on a guided bicycle tour: sticking to the back roads rather than the main road. Learn about what you are seeing around you and have your questions answered, while getting to visit some special places that you would otherwise probably not stumble across.

  • Guided walking tour - see some fascinating and beautiful out-of-the-way locations that visitors - and often locals and residents too - hardly visit. We can take you a little way into the bush, or simply amble around the island interior roads.
